Do remember when Tre Wilcox won Top Chef? Well he lives in Dallas and this past summer opened up his own restaurant in the Highland Park area called Marquee Grill. He’s really winning with the location of it. Nestled right next to a movie theater in Highland Park Village where Dallas residents go for their Louboutin, Escada, Tory Burch goods. Needless to say its a wealthy area so the restaurant is fitting for the enviornment. While I don’t think the prices are that bad, some may differ.
My first time dining at Marquee Grill was for a friend’s birthday and I ordered a pork chop. Yes, a pork chop! I rarely cook them let alone order one a restaurant but it was delicious. Probably the most flavorful and juiciest pork chop I’ve ever had. This time we went with the ahi tuna tempura roll for the appetizer. Not bad, but it’s not a sushi restaurant. For my main course, I ordered the Crispy Seared Barramundi (a white fish). It was complimented with eggplant gratin (which was amazing), baby artichokes and drizzled with a smoked caviar sauce. I’m not lying to you when I say I could eat that meal once a week.
My friend ordered the Seafood Fettuccine, which was smoked shrimp, jumbo lump crab, peas, asparagus and lobster sauce. I couldn’t help but to get a few spoonfuls of that.
I tried a few cocktails but the Pimm’s Cup was my favorite. It’s made with Pimm’s #1, lime juice, cointreau, seasonal fruit, english cucumber, mint and ginger beer. By the end of the night I was calling it a Pimp’s Cup!
So there, thats my quick review. Overall Marquee Grill has yet to disappoint. Next time I think I’ll try it for brunch!
